Nice illustration of one of my favorites. Oh Artemis, one of the far more crueler gods the Greeks had. Well, cruel for a society that grew very patriarchal and disdained women with power.

Again, another piece I like.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. It's true, Artemis is such a harsh and unforgiving goddess mostly toward men. Even the guys she liked. Yeesh... She shouldn't have vowed eternal chasity... Might have made her less cranky. O_o; Unless she was a lesbian, which one does wonder with how often she hangs with them. ^^ She is apparently very gentle and loving to nymphs and women, except Hera. Hera was such a cruel mother figure to her that as a child, she would run to Zeus to be babied whenever Hera beat her. ^^; It's so hard to imagine Artemis crying to someone, even if she was a child.

Although she was cruel, she has to be one of my favorite Greek goddesses along side Athena. Oh Greek mythology... The gods were really so messed up. LOL. Did you know that the Greeks use to blame the gods for their problems thinking the Gods purposely caused them misery and pain whenever something went wrong in their lives? A Greek tragedy. :grin:

Lol. Glad you noticed the lighting. I dulled the other nymphs so that Artemis would get the most attention in the foreground. The shadows on her were such fun shapes for me too. I'm glad you liked the BG. It was one of my favorite things to do in this piece. ^_^ It's really neat that you pointed out the things I liked most about the piece. ^^;
